Fall Flight Time Block Selection

You have been placed on a list indicating your first choice for a Fall 2008 flight time block and it will appear on your class schedule as found in SOAR. When the flight schedule is finalized in the latter part of August, every effort will be made to keep you in this time block. However, there may need to be a change dependent on your flight and academic progress and resource availability.

Printed below are the Flight Resource Priority Guidelines that were developed a year ago and continue to be the guide for final time block assignment.

Flight Resource Priority Guidelines

The following are the guidelines that will be used for assigning flight resources for students pursuing the flight operations major. In the spirit of the guidelines, the administrators of the program are authorized to exercise their professional judgment in resolving conflicts and assigning resources.

General Policies

  1. Only students, who have completed the prior course and passed the necessary check ride, including certification or rating if that is required, will be eligible for entry into a new practicum.
  2. Students are permitted to be enrolled into only one flight practicum at a time.
  3. All of the prerequisite academic courses must be completed before a student can receive consideration for the next flight practicum.
  4. Student must register for the appropriate course and practicum and for a flight block (three things). The date of registration will have an impact in priority placement.*
  5. Students will be scheduled into a practicum only if they have their bills paid by the due date. (The absence of payment will take a student off the list rather than payment putting him or her on or moving up the list).

All students registering will be placed on the flight list. Their registration preference for flight block time will be considered – but not guaranteed, based on spaces available and the best use of resources. The registration date will have an impact.* Assuming there are more students than seats available we will put students on the priority flight list as long as they have registered and met all of the requirements listed above.

Of these students, priority will go to students in the following order.

  1. Significantly Delayed prior semester due to “wait list”
  2. Registered on a timely basis
  3. Cleared by the Business Office/TSA
  4. Completed prior course and moving into next practicum
  5. Incomplete
  6. Re-enroll

All students who register during registration week (April 7 - 11) will be considered to have registered at the same time. Alphabetical grouping for registration purposes will not adversely affect final placement in a time block. Date of registration may affect placement for those who register for a flight course after April 11.
